La Plagne has several ski resorts at different altitudes

La Plagne is a ski resort in the French Alps, located in the Savoie region. La Plagne is located in the Tarentaise Valley and consists of several villages and ski stations at different altitudes, which together form a coherent ski area.

The development of La Plagne began in the 1960s as part of France's push for mountain tourism, and La Plagne has since developed gradually. The skiing in La Plagne includes slopes of varying difficulty and is suitable for both beginners and more experienced skiers. The lift and piste system connects the various villages and makes it possible to move around the area without a car.

La Plagne is part of the larger Paradiski ski area, which connects La Plagne with Les Arcs via a lift. Accommodation in La Plagne is spread between villages such as Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne, Plagne 1800 and several smaller resorts further down the valley. The architecture varies from functional buildings from the 1960s and 70s to more traditional Alpine-style buildings later on. In addition to skiing, there are other winter activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and bobsleighing and tobogganing. During the summer months, La Plagne is mainly used for hiking, cycling and other outdoor activities in an alpine environment. La Plagne is therefore an example of an alpine tourist resort that is adapted for use all year round.
