Bud - a small village by the sea about 40 kilometers west of Molde
Bud is a small coastal village on the west coast of Norway, located in Hustadvika municipality in Møre og Romsdal county. It is located by the sea, about 40 kilometers west of Molde, and has long been known for its fishing history and dramatic coastal scenery. Despite its modest size, Bud has played an important role in Norwegian history, both as a fishing village and as a military outpost. In ancient times, Bud was a bustling trading and fishing center with several thousand inhabitants during the peak seasons. Today, it is a quiet town with about 700 permanent residents, but which attracts many visitors. From the village, you have a wide view of Hustadvika, one of Norway's most notorious sea areas, known for its weather-exposed location and its dramatic history of shipwrecks. One of the most visited places in Bud is the Bud Coastal Museum and Ergan Coastal Fort, a German coastal fortification from World War II, which is now a museum and memorial. From here you not only get an insight into war history, but also panoramic views of the sea, islands and surrounding landscape. Bud also has a marina, local cafes and galleries, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes Bud a perfect place for nature experiences, hiking and seaside relaxation. Nearby is the famous Atlantic Road – one of Norway’s most spectacular stretches of road – making Bud a natural starting or ending point for journeys along this iconic coastal route.
