Prague Main Station (Praha hlavní nádraží) - The largest and most important railway station in the Czech Republic, located in the heart of the capital. The station is a central hub for both national and international train traffic and has daily departures to cities such as Vienna, Berlin, Budapest and Bratislava, as well as to various parts of the Czech Republic. The original station opened in 1871 under the name Franz Josef Station and was designed in the historicist style. In the early 20th century, the current station building was built in the Art Nouveau style according to designs by the famous architect Josef Fanta. The old domed waiting room, Fantova kavárna, still remains as a cultural heritage site amidst the station's modern surroundings. The station has undergone extensive renovations and modernizations in the 21st century and today houses an underground level with shops, restaurants, ticket offices and a metro station. It is also connected to the city's tram and bus services, making it easy for travelers to get around Prague.
