Gavrio - the largest port town on Andros and often the first place visitors to Andros encounter.

Andros is the northernmost and second largest island of the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea. Andros is about two hours by ferry from Athens. Andros is unusually green for a Cyclade island, thanks to its many springs, rivers and valleys. The varied landscape includes mountains, ravines, olive groves, vineyards, and over 70 beaches - from wide sandy beaches like Golden Beach (Chrissi Ammos) to secluded coves like Achla Beach. Andros is also known for its well-preserved network of hiking trails, called the Andros Routes, where old paved paths connect villages, monasteries and viewpoints through the hilly landscape. The island has thus become a center for hiking and ecotourism in Greece. The capital, Chora - not to be confused with the "Chora" of other islands - is a town that mixes Cycladic whitewashed architecture with neoclassical mansions, a legacy of seafaring families who built their fortunes on trade and shipping. There are also art museums, libraries and an archaeological museum, making Andros an unusually cultural island. Andros has a strong local agriculture and produces honey, wine, cheeses and olive oil, among other things.

Gavrio - the largest port town on Andros and the main entry point for ferries from the mainland, especially from Rafina, just northeast of Athens. The village is located on the west side of the island, surrounded by hillsides, greenery and the sea, and is often the first thing visitors to Andros encounter. Despite its role as a transport hub, Gavrio has retained a relaxed and traditional atmosphere. There are cafes, tavernas, small hotels and shops along the quayside, as well as vehicle rentals for further exploration of the island.
