Live broadcast - A waterhole in Gondwana Namib Park
NamibiaCam's water hole in the Namib Desert is located in the Gondwana Namib Park at the Namib Naukluft Park. Built in 2006, this watering hole's particular style has not only affected the surrounding animal population but reaches the whole world through live broadcast. This specific water hole is located on an open plain 8 km from Namib Desert Lodge. In this park, all human obstacles have been removed, creating an area of over 56,540 square kilometers where wild animals move freely between the two parks and other privately owned guest farms.
A solar-powered borehole fills a nearby reservoir and is monitored by a float that opens when the waterhole's levels drop. As the camera is located in such a remote location as the Namib Desert, temporary outages are likely at times.
