Haparanda - Sweden

Haparanda is located on the border with Finland, in Norrbotten County. Haparanda municipality has approximately 9,000 inhabitants. Haparanda was founded in the 17th century, but it was during the 19th century that the city grew larger, among other things through trade and shipping. Torneå is Haparanda's Finnish sister city, located just across the Torne river. Haparanda is Sweden's easternmost city and is close to the Arctic Circle, which gives the residents long summer evenings and dark winter days.
