Oktoberfest, or "Wiesn" as the people of Munich simply call it, is the ultimate folk festival. Large and small tents, carousels, stalls and much more are set up on around 104 hectares for over 7 million visitors. Almost 7 million liters of beer, 95,000 liters of wine, 550,000 chickens and 75,000 pork knuckles are consumed. The energy costs of this large folk festival are 2.7 million watts. In comparison, this corresponds to around 15% of the energy requirements of the city of Munich. Theresienhöhe and Marienplatz are just a few of the many attractions.
