Helsinki is the capital of Finland and the northernmost capital in the EU. Helsinki is located on the Gulf of Finland, close to Estonia and Russia. Helsinki is built on over 300 islands and has more kilometers of coastline. The islands are accessible by ferry, boat or bridge, such as Suomenlinna, one of the world's largest sea fortresses and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Helsinki is a center of higher education with universities such as the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and Hanken. It is also home to the startup event Slush, one of the world's largest tech meetings. Helsinki also hosts many events, such as the Helsinki Festival, Lux Helsinki (light festival), Flow Festival (music and art) and Sideways, a mix of alternative culture, food and music.
