Yumbo Center - an entertainment center with over 200 shops and restaurants on four floors in Playa del Inglés on Gran Canaria
Playa del Inglés is one of the most well-known holiday resorts on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, part of the Canary Islands. Playa del Inglés is located on the south coast of the island and is part of the larger tourist area of Maspalomas, where the sun almost always shines and the climate is pleasant all year round. Playa del Inglés emerged in the 1960s and 70s as a holiday paradise on the Atlantic Ocean, and has since developed into a vibrant tourist centre with long sandy beaches, hotels in all price ranges, shopping centres and an intense nightlife. The long, wide beach stretches for several kilometres and is connected to the iconic sand dunes of Maspalomas, a protected natural area resembling a desert by the sea. Playa del Inglés' promenade is lined with restaurants, cafés and bars overlooking the sea, while the inland areas of the area are home to large entertainment centres such as the Kasbah and the Yumbo Centre. Built between 1982 and 1985, the Yumbo Centre has over 200 shops and restaurants on four floors. The Yumbo Centre has an open architecture with courtyards and terraces.
