Varberg is a coastal city located in Halland County on the west coast of Sweden, on the Kattegat Sea. Varberg is located about 70 km south of Gothenburg, about 36 km north of Falkenberg, about 73 km north of Halmstad and about 200 km north of Malmö. The city is known for its extensive sandy beaches, historical attractions and lively atmosphere. Varberg is home to Varberg Fortress - an impressive coastal fortress dating back to the 13th century, which today houses a museum and offers fantastic views of the sea.
