Assisi is a town in the Italian region of Umbria. Assisi is located in the province of Perugia, about 20 kilometers southeast of the city of Perugia.
Assisi is located on the slopes of Monte Subasio and has a well-preserved historic center. The city of Assisi is closely associated with Francis of Assisi, who was born there in the 12th century. In Assisi is the Basilica of Francis of Assisi, which was built to house his tomb and is still an important religious and cultural center.
