Koh Tao, Mae Haad Bay, view towards the Koh Nang Yuan archipelago

Koh Tao - a small island north of Koh Phangan and Koh Samui
Koh Tao is a small island in the eastern part of Thailand, located in the Gulf of Thailand, north of Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. Koh Tao belongs to the province of Surat Thani and is approximately 21 square kilometers in size. The terrain consists of hilly forested areas, beaches, bays and rocky areas. Koh Tao is accessible by ferry from, among others, Chumphon and the surrounding islands, and is often used as part of travel routes between the islands in the region.
Mae Haad Bay - located on the west side of Koh Tao and serves as the island's main port. Here is the pier where ferries from the mainland and other islands dock. The area around Mae Haad is built up with small shops, restaurants, dive centers and accommodations. The bay has calmer waters and is a natural sheltered place for boats. The beach itself is bounded by cliffs at both ends, and the bay is used by both locals and visitors.
Koh Nang Yuan - a smaller group of islands just northwest of Koh Tao, consisting of three interconnected islands with narrow sandbars. Koh Nang Yuan is reached by boat from Koh Tao, often via day trips from Mae Haad or Sairee Beach. Koh Nang Yuan is known for its coral reefs and clear waters, which have made it a popular area for snorkeling and diving. Landing on the islands is via a small jetty, and there are limited facilities on site.
